Note: Audio Hijack supports Icecast protocol only. If you need ShoutCast, use a different application such as BUTT.

Icecast Setup in Audio Hijack

  1. Open Audio Hijack and create a New Session.
  2. Add an audio source block. Choose the application or input device you want to broadcast (e.g., your DJ software, system audio, or a microphone).
  3. Add a Broadcast block by dragging it from the blocks sidebar and connecting it to your audio source.
  4. Click on the Broadcast block to configure it. Set the Server Type to Icecast.
  5. Set Server to source.fixedbit.stream
  6. Set Port to 9000
  7. Set Mountpoint to /your-mount
  8. Set Username to source and Password to your-password
  9. Set Format to MP3, Bitrate to 128 kbps, Sample Rate to 44100 Hz, Channels to Stereo.
  10. Click the Run button (bottom left) to start the session. The broadcast block will show a green indicator when connected.

Test Your Stream

Open VLC Media Player and go to Media > Open Network Stream. Enter your land URL:

http://your-stream.fixedbit.stream/stream

If you hear your audio, your stream is working correctly.

Set the Land Audio URL in Second Life

  1. In Second Life, right-click the ground on your parcel and select About Land.
  2. Go to the Sound tab.
  3. In the Music URL field, paste: http://your-stream.fixedbit.stream/stream
  4. Close the dialog. Visitors with streaming music enabled will hear your stream.
