Icecast Setup in VirtualDJ

  1. Open VirtualDJ and go to Settings (gear icon at the top).
  2. Click on the Broadcast section in the left sidebar.
  3. Check Enable Broadcasting.
  4. Set the Server Type to Icecast 2.
  5. Set Server to source.fixedbit.stream
  6. Set Port to 9000
  7. Set Mount to /your-mount
  8. Set Login to source and Password to your-password
  9. Under Encoding, select MP3 at 128 kbps, 44100 Hz, Stereo.
  10. Click Start Broadcast. The broadcast indicator in the top bar will turn active when connected.

ShoutCast Setup in VirtualDJ

  1. Open VirtualDJ and go to Settings > Broadcast.
  2. Check Enable Broadcasting.
  3. Set the Server Type to ShoutCast v1.
  4. Set Server to source.fixedbit.stream
  5. Set Port to 9001
  6. Set Password to your-password
  7. Under Encoding, select MP3 at 128 kbps, 44100 Hz, Stereo.
  8. Click Start Broadcast.

Test Your Stream

Open VLC Media Player and go to Media > Open Network Stream. Enter your land URL:

http://your-stream.fixedbit.stream/stream

If you hear your audio playing back, your stream is working correctly.

Set the Land Audio URL in Second Life

  1. In Second Life, right-click the ground on your parcel and select About Land.
  2. Go to the Sound tab.
  3. In the Music URL field, paste: http://your-stream.fixedbit.stream/stream
  4. Close the dialog. Visitors with streaming music enabled will hear your stream.
